One of Ateneo de Davao University’s mission is to engage itself vigorously in environmental protection thus the creation of numerous offices and school organizations that mainly focus on educating students as well as the community on how we can properly take care of the environment.
The Playwrights’ Club and Bughaw Productions of Ateneo de Davao Junior High School has teamed up together this year to produce a short film called “Hibu’ng.” A pre-modern folktale set in the early Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur. It is a story of Pedro, a noble fisherman with low catch. Pedro is a faithful father of two in a religious family. He then discovers a mysterious river rich in marine life which leads him to find places in the sea with abundant fishery. As his catch increases, so does the suspicion of his neighbors, family, and friends.
2nd Lantawan Socsksargen Film Festival’s Best Picture Hibu’ng will be shown in August 10 and 11 at the Ateneo de Davao University Junior High School, Matina Campus.
